Greetings and Salutations!

Kim & Val at the market

Well here I am venturing into the blogosphere!  Basics with a Twist is the title of my first book, coming out this spring.  A memoir/cookbook that includes over 80 recipes along with vignettes about our farm.  Originally from the city, I moved to the country with my partner Val to start a new life as a truck farmer.  We sell our artisan soaps and heirloom vegetables at the Fulton Street Farmers Market in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  This blog will be an ongoing conversation about our farm, my experiences, and recipes we enjoy and want to share.  I also will delve into food issues and food politics when moved to do so.  I look forward to conversation with fellow foodies who enjoy fresh, local and having fun.
